Hunting For Scaffolding

Next Wednesday we will be taking a trip down to Fells End Pot near Kirkby Stephen along with Fred Rattray, a friend of mine in the Bradford Pothole Club. This is to pick up some scaffolding that Fred has kindly donated and will allow us to continue our exploration of Chatsworth Mine through a number of unstable shafts.

As explained in my previous update, these shafts currently lead down to an estimated depth of around 106m, however it would be unwise to return to our previous point of exploration without first securing them with scaffolding.

Unfortunately, the scaffolding will need to be hauled out of the initial shaft, brought to the surface and carried across the Fell side, however it is free so we can’t complain much.

In addition to this, I soon hope to begin surveying the mine properly with assistance from experienced surveyors such as Chris Fox from the Black Sheep Diggers. The surveys will be uploaded once complete.
